Langya Mountain was named after the title of Langya King of Sima Rui, the first emperor of Eastern Jin Dynasty. It is located in the southwest of Chuzhou City and the city is integrated with the mountain. With rich historical and cultural resources and beautiful natural landscapes, it is the place where Zuiweng Pavilion, the First Pavilion under Heaven, is located, one of first batch of national AAAA tourist attractions, a national park of China, and a national forest park.
Covering an area of 115km2, Langya Mountain National Park includes Zuiweng Pavilion Area, Puxian Area, and Qingliu Pass Area. Langya Mountain Scenic Area is located in the Zuiweng Pavilion Area, covering an area of 4.98km2, which is the enrichment place of historical and cultural resources and ecological landscape resources of Langya Mountain, including Zuiweng Pavilion Culture Theme Area, Tongle Garden Study Tour Area, Langya Wonderland Exploration Area, Heavenly Southern Gate Sightseeing Area, and Shenxiu Lake Leisure & Sports Area.
Langya Mountain is a famous cultural mountain. Since the Tang Dynasty, Li Youqing, Wei Yingwu, Ouyang Xiu, Su Shi, Zeng Gong, Wang Anshi, Xin Qiji, Song Lian, Wang Yangming, Wen Zhengming and many other historical celebrities left a large number of handed-down works on Langya Mountain. In the Records of Zuiweng Pavilion of Ouyang Xiu, a great writer of the Song Dynasty, the sentence "The drinker's heart is not in the cup, but in landscape" has become a well-known sentence, and Zuiweng Pavilion is also known as "the First Pavilion under Heaven". In this national park, there are two national cultural heritage sites - Langya Mountain Cliff Carvings and Stele Inscriptions (in particular, seven pieces of cliff carvings of the Tang Dynasty and the steles with Su Shi's calligraphy of "Records of Zuiweng Pavilion" are rare treasures) and the Beamless Hall, and four provincial cultural heritage sites - Ancient Building Cluster of Langya Temple Built in the Tang Dynasty, Qingliu Pass Built in the Five Dynasties, and Ancient Building Cluster of Zuiweng Pavilion and Ancient Building Cluster of Fengle Pavilion Built in the Song Dynasty.
Langya Mountain is a pure ecological land. Langya Mountain is located in a humid monsoon climate zone, with four distinct seasons, pleasant scenery, abundant animal and plant resources and more than 85% forest coverage, and Ulmus chenmoui and Ulmus gaussenii are rare and unique tree species. The Ouyang Plum planted by Ouyang Xiu is one of four plum longevity stars in China. Langya Brook, Glass Moor, Rangquan Spring, Zhuoying Spring and other mountain springs, Guiyun Cave, Xuehong Cave, Chongxi Cave and other caves are among the scenery "Nine Caves and Eighteen Springs" of Langya Mountain.
